Day 25 – A First

For those who have followed me, you know I turned 40 a few weeks ago and is still celebrating for 2 more days. During that time, I plan to start doing some things I have never done and start doing others that I have done. I have created lasting memories and documented several of my activities.

I started the 40 day celebration with a first for me...pole dancing. It was a fun experience. However, I need to find some rhythm before I return!

Another first for me in my celebration was belly dancing. My friends have truly indulged me with hanging with me. I had friends representing aspects of my life from elementary school to current colleagues.

This birthday celebration was a first for me with new experiences and memories. I was able to have 40 days with 40 activities/outings. I have never gave real thought in creating a celebration until this year. I did not get everything in during that time. So I have a list of firsts I will finish later this year.

Day 24 – Something that Made Me Cry

Something that Made Me Cry
Disclaimer : In effort to get through some of these posts, I am not worrying about giving you a good story. I am going to create a list when appropriate and keep it moving. IF you want me to expound on anything, leave me a comment and I will do it in the comments or a later post.

  • Someone close to me getting hurt
  • Watching my Baby Bandit go through anything painful
  • Sad movie
  • Moving song
  • Heartbreak (yes I too have experience heartbreak)
  • Anger
  • Anxiety attacks
  • Death of my dad and grandparents
  • Seeing the pain in others

Day 23 - Something That Makes Me Feel Better

It's simple. SWEETS **drops the mic and walks off stage**

In a nut shell, I LOOVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE sweets. If you have followed me for any length of time, you would see I love brownies, cookies, cake, and candy. I love love love my sweets.

In an effort to make this posting a little longer, I will list other things that make me feel better. All one has to do is tap into my love languages. Yes, there is a s on the end of language because I have more than one!

  • Listening to gospel music - My favorite cd is Shakin' the House Live in LA cd with Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, and Hezekiah Walker

  • Spending time with my friends

Breakfast with Tiffany

  • Watching a comedy or feel good movie

  • Playing with my nephews (the little ones)
These are just a few things that makes me feel better.

Day 22 - Something That Upsets Me

Like everyone else, there are quite a few things that upsets me. If I had to choose one thing, it would be a lie.  I know people say they are bothered by liars. BUT I REALLY HATE FOR SOMEONE TO LIE TO ME. I don't care how bad it is or how you think it will hurt my feelings, tell me the truth. Remember, whatever is done in the dark comes to light. So if you lie to me, then I am upset twice---one for whatever you lied about AND two for the lie itself.!

The Band-Aid analogy is a good way for me to explain it. Just rip it off fast. Meaning, I would rather you tell me instantly and let me deal with whatever negative emotion/reaction I am going to have. Versus pulling a little of the Band-Aid off at a time. Meaning telling me what you think I want to hear instead of the truth.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not asking you to be crass with what you are saying or doing. Just be honest. There is a way to say everything. Just find the best way to say it.

Oh, and if you really want to take me over, lie to me about something I specifically asked you. If I asked, then I have already prepared myself for the worst possible answer. It goes with my motto, "If you are man or woman enough to ask, then I am woman enough to tell you the truth."

So, for all those who did not know.....now you know! Don't lie to me!!!!!

Finishing the Challenge

I am going to try to finish this dog gone challenge I started oh so long ago. I need to finish it purely from a commitment standpoint. I am good for starting or setting something up, but I would rather let someone else finish it. Something I have been accepting lately.

Plus, I want to blog about other things like my 40 in 40 celebration and random thoughts I know I need to deal with.

So hopefully you will have plenty of new posts to read over the next few weeks. Let's get it in! (Ok, that was really a pep talk to myself!)

Game Night - Celebrating 40 in 40 Celebration

Game Night was the event of the day for Saturday. The first few hours I was running around forgetting every thing. I had to go back to the store and the house because of things I left. But once I arrived to the Game Night location, everything was smooth sailing!

Because it is game night and many of the people are committed to eating healthier, snacks consist of veggie trays, fruit trays, cheeses, and chips and dips. Now before you turn up your noses.

I AM THE BIRTHDAY GIRL! So, there were brownies with ice cream for brownie sundaes!!!!

In between the snacking we actually got some game time in! First up was the Micheal Jackson Experience.

Now, this was great comedy! Some of my friends are super competitive. Perfect Ten could not believe she only earned 1 star on her first attempt. In her defense, she did pick an inhuman routine and her controller was not reading properly. She loves it so much is about to buy a WII just to get the game!

Dancing Diva came in and was ready for action. Now she is super competitive too. She was making all the moves and were in sync with the game and her partner, but the system ranked her low too. Their reactions were classic. I was too busy laughing that I forgot to get pictures of most of the others doing it.

Here are to rookies playing. They did well!

After everyone was hot and tired from MJE, we took another snack break. Then it was time for Taboo.

We played two good games of it. The last game was close throughout with a few lead changes. Team Bun wanted to quit as soon as they got the lead for the first time. However, Team Nick was not having it. It was only fitting to play until 40 points. At this point, only 1 point separated the 2 teams. From there on out, everyone was on their toes! Funny this is at the end of a round, both teams had 40 points. On to sudden death! Team Bun pulled off the win by 1 point. Definitely a good game!

The players who finished off the night. Others left earlier due to other commitments, but fun time was held by all!

Game Night was a great time with good friends. Can't wait until the next adventure.

Day 1 in the 40 in 40 Celebration

Today's get out of the house event was pole dancing at Dance 411 Studios. Several people were planning to go. However, conflicting schedules and late registration prevented many to join us. Despite some of my people not being about to go, I was determine to get out and do it! One of  my coworkers, Dance Diva, did make it out.

Now you did not think you were going to get pictures of us on the pole did you? HA!

Since its the first day of my 40 in 40, I am still getting other dates in order. I just added a daily spiritual component. Yesterday, I just looked at a stack of 4 books on one of my stands. There was this book I have been meaning to read and do.It is The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. It is a 40 day reflection. Can't get any better than that! SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Less than a week ago, I was chatting via FB with a couple of my line sisters about a photo shoot one of them is having. That sparked the notion we need to be fine-eeerrrrrrrrrrrr for it. From it the Strut Challenge was birthed. It is a 5 week challenge (June 1st - July 5th). It consists of more exercise, water, fruits and veggies and less sugar, pasta, and bread. There is so much excitement on the FB event page. It is so encouraging. PHYSICAL GROWTH

This is all going on while I am still working my calendar of events for my 40 in 40. Which is allowing me to do all the things I have not made time to do and see people without stressing about when I see them. MENTAL GROWTH

So as I usher into my 40th birthday, I have my mental, physical, and spiritual covered!
